Tip

Status updates are cached. If you've just submitted, wait at least 24 hours before checking. If you've just updated banking details, allow 5–7 working days for "Bank Details Pending" to resolve.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a SASSA status take to update? +
Most applications update from Pending to Approved or Declined within 7–14 days. During Budget months and at the start of a financial year it can take longer.
What does "Bank Details Pending" mean? +
SASSA could not match your bank account name to your ID. Log in to srd.sassa.gov.za, click "Change Banking Details" and resubmit with an account in your own name.
My status says "Approved" but no money. Why? +
Approved status means your application qualified β€” payment then follows the staggered SRD payment schedule. Check srd.sassa.gov.za for your specific pay date and the collection venue.
Can I check status without internet? +
Yes β€” dial *134*7737# from any cellphone and follow the menu. It works without airtime or data.
How do I check older grant statuses (pension, disability, child support)? +
Use the main SASSA portal services.sassa.gov.za or call 0800 60 10 11. The srd.sassa.gov.za site only handles the SRD grant.
