Loans in South Africa
Independent guides to personal loans, bad-credit lending, blacklisted-friendly lenders and short-term credit. We only feature lenders registered with the National Credit Regulator (NCR).
Important
This article is for information only and is not financial advice. Borrowing money is a serious commitment β make sure you understand the total cost of credit, including interest, initiation fees, monthly admin fees, and credit life insurance. Only borrow from credit providers registered with the National Credit Regulator (NCR). MoneyToday is not a credit provider and does not arrange loans on your behalf.
Before you apply
- Check the lender's NCR registration number on ncr.org.za.
- Compare the total cost of credit, not just the monthly repayment. Initiation fees, monthly admin fees and credit life insurance all add up.
- The maximum interest on unsecured loans is currently RepoRate + 21% per annum (capped by the NCA).
- Never pay an upfront "release fee" or "insurance fee" before a loan is disbursed β this is the most common loan scam.
- If you are struggling with debt, speak to a registered debt counsellor before taking on more credit.
