Clovelly Country Club

Clovelly Country Club is located in the Silvermine (Fish Hoek) Valley. It has a fully stocked pro shop with brands like Ernie Els, Callaway, Odyssey, Cutter and Buck, Kate Lord, Tux Towel, and Ahead USA. Their Bar and Restaurant menu has cheese bombs, barbeque beef cheeseburgers, thick-cut chips, risottos, and even pizzas. Their additional facilities include a hall for conferences, events, and functions within the clubhouse. 

Outdoors is a warm-up range for hitting irons, chipping from a bunker, and putting in or around the green. The main golf course has views of the mountain, rivers, and lakes in Silvermine. On TripAdvisor, it has a rating of 4.5/5 from 86 reviews. It is an 18-hole 72-par course. Most reviewers and golfing professionals rank it highly among all other golf clubs in South Africa.

The Golf Course at Clovelly Country Club 

To take a few swings at the Clovelly Country Club’s warm up range, there is a separate cost for members and visitors with a little variation depending on the season. 

  • During the low season (April to September), members pay R 20 for 25 range balls while visitors pay R 40.
  • During the mid-season (October to December), members pay R 20 for 25 range balls while visitors pay R 40.
  • And during the high season (January to March), members pay R 30 for 25 range balls while visitors pay R 50.
  • Range membership for 20-year-olds and over is R 2 110. This membership comes with unlimited access to the range and an associated green fee rate.
  • Range membership for 19-year-olds and under is R 2 110. This membership comes with unlimited access to the range and an associated green fee rate.

Membership Fee

Clovelly Country Club membership fees are paid yearly. The billing is done on 1 October. It then lasts till 30 September the next year. If you pay after October, you will still pay the full amount, but the balance will be carried forward to the next yearly billing. There is no option to get the balance refund if you choose not to renew your membership. A membership subscription costs:

  • R 5 990 for those who are 40 years or older. This membership gives you an official handicap, an affiliation with South African Golf Association (SAGA), an additional guest rate, as well as a 10% discount on pro shop clothing and on purchases at the restaurant or halfway house.
  • R 4 480 for aspiring members between who are 30 years and 39 years old. This membership also gives you an official handicap, an affiliation with South African Golf Association (SAGA), an additional guest rate, as well as a 10% discount on pro shop clothing and on purchases at the restaurant or in the halfway house.
  • R 2 550 for aspiring members who are between 20 years and 29 years old. This membership also gives you an official handicap, an affiliation with South African Golf Association (SAGA), unlimited access to the range, as well as a 10% discount on pro shop clothing and on purchases at the restaurant or in the halfway house.
  • R 1 480 for 19 years and under. This membership gives you an official handicap, an affiliation with the South African Golf Association (SAGA), unlimited access to the range, as well as a 10% discount on pro shop clothing and on purchases at the restaurant or in the halfway house.
  • R 3 250 for a “Learn How to Play Golf Membership.” This membership comes with unlimited access to the range, the benefit of playing 9-hole golf at members rate, 5 golf lessons, and discounts on additional lessons after the 5th.

Green Fees

The green fees at Clovelly Country club include:

  • R 240 Pay-As-You-Play Green Fee for 40 years and older players,
  • R 170 for 30 to 39-year-olds,
  • R 120 for 20 to 29 years old, and
  • R 60 for 19-year-olds and under. 

Metropolitan Golf Club

Metropolitan Golf Club is located in central Cape Town. The clubhouse has a golf shop with a good range of golfing equipment and modern brand apparel. They have a Halfway House Restaurant. The restaurant’s specials are the usual Cape Malay-style foods. Their bar overlooks the Cape Town Stadium and the 18th hole. They also host conferences and functions within the clubhouse. On TripAdvisor, the club has a rating of 4.5/5 from 22 reviews. In addition, it is touted by many as having very good grass. It is an 18-hole 69 par course. 

Metropolitan Golf Club Membership Fee

Metropolitan Golf Club’s yearly membership subscriptions include:

  • Full membership costing R 7750,
  • 5 Day Membership (excluding Thursdays and Saturdays) costing R 5650,
  • Country membership (for members of another club more than 100km away) costing R 4 850,
  • Associate (for only 21 to 36-year-olds) membership costing R 3 550,
  • Student ( for only 18 to 24-year-olds) membership costing R 1 250,
  • Scholar (for below 18-year-olds) membership costing R 475, and
  • Social membership costs R 650.

Green Fees at Metropolitan Golf Club

For a 9 Hole game, members pay:

  • R 195 for 5 day associates,
  • R 225 for Country members,
  • R 85 for 18 to 24-year-old students,
  • R 75 scholars below 18 years old,
  • R 240 for an affiliated member person, and
  • R 370 for a non-affiliated member person.

For a 9 Hole game, visitors pay:

  • R 265 for a Western Province affiliated golfer,
  • R 295 for a South Africa-affiliated golfer,
  • R 110 for 18 to 24-year-old students,
  • R 70 scholars below 18 years old,
  • R 345 for a guest of an affiliated member, and
  • R 450 for a guest of a non-affiliated member.

For an 18 Hole game, members pay:

  • R 265 for 5-day associates,
  • R 345 for Country members,
  • R 130 for 18 to 24-year-old students.

  • R 420 for an affiliated member person, and
  • R 630 for a non-affiliated member person.

For an 18 Hole game, visitors pay:

  • R 460 for a Western Province affiliated golfer,
  • R 525 for a South Africa-affiliated golfer,
  • R 190 for 18 to 24-year-old students,
  • R 100 scholars below 18 years old,
  • R 550 for a guest of an affiliated member, and
